What kind of education do I have
Ok...let's go. I'm finished studying Engineering Physics at the university of
Umeå but I still need 9 points to get my exam. If I'm lucky, I will be
finished some day. Then I can promote myself to the
rank of "Master Of Science In Engineering Physics". But before I can do
that I have a couple of exams that I still have to complete. A piece
of cake if you ask me...
The courses I've attended to has
given me a more specialized knowledge in the areas of measuring/optics/programming
and hopefuly my coming job will let me deal with that kind of stuff.
Just before I started to look for a job, I'd completed my master thesis at MoDo Paper
FoU in Ö-vik. There I tried to determine if an apparatus they have there really
measured the fibrillorientation in paper. The machine that I evaluated
was called "SAM". It stands for Surface Anisotropi Measurement and is
generally just a carbondioxide laser with a wavelength of 9.55 um.
How does it work? Well by letting the laserbeam pass through a polarisationfilter
than can be rotated, it is possible to calculate how the fibrills in the paper is
oriented. The photodetector that I was using could only operate at very low temperatures.
Therefore I had to cool it down with liquid nitrogen (That stuff is very fun to handle
by the way). The name of my boss at MoDo was Jan-Erik Hägglund, a great guy.
I've also been in Rendsburg, Germany for 2 weeks in Okt. -2000 on an intensive
course in business german language. It was fun, but at the end of the first week
my dreams began to be german speaking and not swedish. And that's a really
freaky thing to experience.
This is me at my workstation "SAM" at MoDo Paper.
