Here some short information for foreign students about Umeå University

Students can choose academic programmes from our five faculties: Arts, Medicine and Odontology, Science and Technology, Social Sciences, and Teacher Education. There are a total of 110 academic programmes and over 1,000 courses. Umeå University also has an impressive large number of interdisciplinary programmes and courses.
 
Foundation Course in Swedish

The Foundation Course in Swedish is a course for students who intend to pursue degree studies at Umeå University but who have no previous knowledge of the Swedish language.

Students can apply for undergraduate studies and will receive a guaranteed place provided they successfully complete the three-semester Foundation Course in Swedish and pass a Test in Swedish for University Studies (TISUS).

The Foundation Course starts in January every year (spring semester).

To fulfil the general admission requirements you must submit documents from a secondary school education with a diploma (12 years), and proof of a good knowledge of English – either English as your mother tongue or documented by an internationally recognised proficiency test, TOEFL (with a final result of normally no less than 500 points paper-based or 173 points computer-based).

Application deadline is April 15 yearly for the course that starts in January the following year.
