Master's Programme in Accounting and Finance, 40 points / 60 ECTS-credits

Content:
1. Corporate Finance, 5 points/7.5 ECTS
2. Advanced financial statement analysis and valuation, 5 points/7.5 ECTS
3a. Advanced auditing and corporate governance, 5 points/7.5 ECTS
3b. Investments, 5 points/7.5 ECTS
4. Value-based management accounting, 5 points/7.5 ECTS
5. Elective course/courses, 10 points/15 ECTS
6. Master's Thesis (D-Thesis), 10 points/15 ECTS
During the programme the students make a choice between course 3a (language: Swedish) and 3b.

Prerequisites
A Bachelor's degree with a major in Business Administration (180 ECTS-credits), which should include courses in Business Administration (90 ECTS)

A minimum of 40 points/60 ECTS from A- and B-level [Basic and Intermediate] courses in Business Administration (Management, Accounting, Finance, Organization, Investments, Management Accounting, Marketing)

At the advanced level, C-level, in Business Administration a minimum of 20 points/30 ECTS, including a Bachelorís thesis or equivalent

Furthermore, 10 points/15 ECTS Statistics or similar and a C-level course in Accounting (10 points/15 ECTS) are recommended

Prerequisites
A Bachelor Degree with a major in Economics 180 ECTS. Within this Degree the student should have courses in Economics 90 ECTS credits.

At the advanced level, C-level, in Economics the students require a minimum of 20 points including the Bachelorís thesis (C-thesis) or equivalent and a course in Microeconomics. It corresponds to 30 ECTS credits.

Admission
You will receive a Letter of Acceptance from our International Office sometime in the end of March or beginning of April 2005. This letter will tell you whether you have been admitted or not.

Housing
If you are an international exchange student coming within a formal agreement. Here you will find the application form for housing

All other students must find housing for them selves. There are different options.
1. You can apply for housing at one of the student housing areas in UmeŚ. From these student housing areas it is often biking distance to the campus. To apply for these student single rooms our student flats you need to register on www.bostaden.umea.se (look for the link "In English"). It is important that you register even before you have been admitted. The date of registration for housing should be done as soon as possible in order for them to be able to get you a student room.

VISA
If you need VISA it is also of vital importance that you start applying for a VISA even before you have the Letter of Acceptance. When/if you receive a Letter of Acceptance there will be very short time to get a VISA before the semester starts. A VISA application procedure can take up to 3 months.

Tuition and fees etc.
The Swedish University system does not charge any tuition or fees but membership in Swedish Students' Union is required, approx. 300 SEK/year. There are no scholarships or grants available from Umeå School of Business and Economics. The students have to pay for their housing and living by themselves. Students must be fully insured during their studies. A minimum of 7.000 SEK/month is recommended for rent, food, bus fares and books.
