| Cheap Rhymes[1999-01-06]Isn't poetry just lovely? You can, via a few single lines, express your innermost feelings. Or, as some poets seem to almost see a challenge in, write something so utterly strange that they won't even comprehend it themselves a week from the time of finishing it... Anyhow, most people has written one or two poems, if not voluntarily, then at least as a school assignment or alike. And there's quite a lot of people that put rhymes on their Christmas gifts. But that's not really interesting; the interesting thing with poetry really is the first, trembling steps you takes as a poet, when you compose your first few verses. Who hasn't written a love-poem including the rhymes "heart" and "apart"? Or maybe some combination of "cry", "lie", "die" or "why"?! I know at least one poet that quite frequently utilises these rhymes that many poets frown at. I use them... Long live poems with splendid rhymes such as "You're tearing me apart, and breaking my heart"... Can it become any better?! |
