Thoughts!Non-ThoughtsThoughts
| A New Year[1998-12-31]New Years Eve, and a new year approaching. A lot of people make promises, few of them keep them. I don't make any promises, because I know I won't keep them. After a few hours spent at my uncle's house (next door), supposedly celebrating, I went home and entered my cosy bed instead. This was around 10 o'clock, I think; two hours before the arrival of the New Year. Why should I care? Nothing interesting will happen anyway. Apart from that a lot of computer-systems will break down. And that's only those with 99 as an error-code. Just wait until we reach a new millenium, and virtually any system suddenly can experience strange behaviour. Apart from thought through systems, of course. Like the MacOS, virtually all versions of Linux, etc. What's so special with a new year? Oh, it'll take me a while to adjust to the fact that I need to sign papers with 1999-xx-xx instead of 1998-xx-xx, but apart from that, it's nothing, really. Oh, but there is one thing, of course. Sometime in March, I will hold an address in Umeå on the city-square, we I talk on the topic "Credo 2000" ("I believe 2000"). I haven't really decided yet what to talk about. I don't really know what to believe... But when I do, I'll publish the speech here too... For those poor souls who might be interested. But why should you? Oh well. Time to enjoy 1999, I guess. |
