Monsters in Dage

Overview

The invading Northmen brought with them new monsters and beasts never before seen in the rest of Dage. Flying wyrms, giants, trolls, orcs, kobolds and stranger races accompanied the raiders into mainland Dage for the first time.

This is not the first time such a migration of creatures has occurred -- during the Kadian invasions of the continent and expansion across the interior, waves of Huturl attacks and the eventual settlement of those barbarians, creatures from the continent migrated through the Empire. They are now fully integrated into the regions and show no signs of leaving. Sages hypothesize that the current wave of new creatures may have difficulty fitting in with other similar creatures (kobolds would be wiped out by goblinkin should they settle near them).

Below is a categorization of creatures by their region of origin. Creatures will be most often found in those regions close to their origin, but do travel elsewhere.

Common Monsters

Lesser undead (skeletons, zombies, ghouls, etc.)
Predatory animals (bears, eagles, snakes, toads, spiders, wolves, wild dogs, great cats, etc.)
Herd animals (deer, horses, etc.)

*These are flightless dragons (without wings, obviously). They are substantially larger than their flying counterparts, and possess greater physical strength at the expense of magical abilities.
