Hunting continued

Then it's back to the waiting again, hoping that this time it might be my turn.

This time it was Matti, the guy in the red plaid shirt on the right, who was lucky and downed a young bull. You can make out the horns in the picture, and obviously this was not exactly the king of the woods - rather a young prince.
And before you haul the moose home, you take out the interiors.
Hauling the thing up into a tree is not all that easy, it takes all of us and some tricks.

But thanks to my cousin Claes' (on the left) pickup and some raw power it gets up and we can start working on it.

The moose is left to hang for a day to cool off, and then it can be cut up into pieces suitable for eating - filé, steaks, chops etc. Here's my cousin Erik (left), my dad (below left) and me (below) working on it.

When hunting in this manner, all meat is divided between the hunters in the group - in our case we are 7 people sharing. You probably can understand that the moose hunting is one big reason why there are so many large freezers sold in Sweden.
