VECTORS BAND STORY
Pelle - bass, vocals. Karl - guitar, vocals. Jens - drums.

We started THE VECTORS in February 1996 and recorded a 14-track demo in April at the now defunct Ching Chong Studios, here in Umeå, Sweden. This tape got us a deal with German label New Lifeshark Records who released our first 4 track 7''ep Fuck MTV (NLR 012) later that year.

In June 1997 we toured Poland for the first time and had a lot of fun. When we first got off the ferry, Bart, our polish tour manager, was 3 hours late because he had been robbed and beaten unconscious on the train. The first gig on that tour, at Ex-Club Coco Bongo in Elk, was also the band's first gig ever. We were supported by four or five local crust/grind bands. In Ostroda we played at the town's anniversary celebration fair. It was all baloons and little kids. The only gig that wasn't in a squat. It was also the only gig where we got paid what we had been promised...

Olsztyn was one of the best gigs ever. We supported new wave band APATIA in Wejherowo and the place was so packed that two kids tried to enter the club by smashing a hole in the back wall with a big wooden log. We were supposed to play two gigs in Torun but the second night was cancelled when just before the show a gang of neo-nazis and rival football fans attacked the place. This big street fight broke out, the cops came around and the local gig organiser was hospitalised. The fact that some of our entourage were fucked up on bad LSD didn't help either. The first night was really good though. At the Krakow soundcheck (a rare enough event) Karl got electrocuted. Best tour we've ever done.

In October 1997 New Lifeshark organised the Fuck MTV Tour of Germany and Holland. Because of the excessive drinking the first two gigs are mainly blank spots memorywise, but there were some equipment failure and passing out on stage, waking up there the next day.

We did some good gigs in Hamburg, Gelsenkirchen, and Solingen. In Rostock we stayed on a boat, drank some horrible stuff called Dirty Harry (go ahead Punk, make my day) and watched Oliver, the ''tour manager'', eat liver sausages wrapped in Danish pastry.

In Nijmegen, Holland we played at a new squat in front of two or three people. There were no posters made for the gig, the doors were locked and you had to knock a secret signal to get in. One guy came in, bought four VECTORS t-shirts then sat at the bar while we played in the other room. We were the last band ever to play the Loos squat in den 'Bosch. A pity really, because the place was great. Glasfabriek in Groningen was another good gig. The last gig on the tour was at the Garage Punk Festival, Goudvishal in Arnheim.

In april 1998 our 13 track LP The Vectors (NLR 021) was released but the label censored the cover and lyric sheet behind our back, which ended our time with them.

We toured Poland again that summer. We did a really good gig in Torun (again). Then Swedish crust band GREED joined us for the rest of the tour. Nothing much happened except for the odd death threats and a short and unsuccessfull nazi attack in Olsztyn.
We got ripped off in Miastko (Fiasco in Miaskto) by some arsehole who ran away after tour manager Bart pulled a gun on him, but the local punks promised us that they would ''make his face completely destroyed''. And you can't get much more drunk than THE VECTORS in Grodziedz.

In February 1999 the comp CD Swedish Sins '99 (JAZZ 014 CD) came out on White Jazz Records, with the exclusive VECTORS song Apocalypse on it.

The 1999 european tour was cancelled when a german major label claimed they had the rights to the name VECTORS and threatened to sue the tour organiser and every place who'd let us play, for 20 000 DM each. This problem has been sorted now and we've toured Europe again, without any legal problems.

VECTORS UMEÅ OPEN POSTER
We played early on the second day of Umeå Open '99 and got banned from the rest of the festival immediately after the gig.
At the time we played in Sweden only. We released the 4 track 7''ep Rape The Pope (RA 731) on our own label Rabid Alligator Records in the summer of 2000. See Discography for hilarious hate mail from christian pro-life scum. The 7''ep was denied distibution by a number of moronic distros and two more labels got cold feet because of it.

We only released new songs through various punk compilations until DIY hardcore label Busted Heads Records stepped in and released our 2nd album Still Ill (BHR23) in November 2003. The LP was produced by David Sandstrom (REFUSED), as was the previous 7''ep.

We did some more shows in Sweden, and in June 2005 we went on a new european tour. Together with DISCONVENIENCE we played some great shows in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Holland. See European Tour 2005 Index for photos from this tour. With the exception of a miscalculation of the effects of some of the bad stuff a touring band is offered (sorry, Västerås punks & skins) this tour was more or less incident free, and we even have some vague memories of the actual gigs. Copenhagen, Rotterdam and Hoorn were among the best gigs we've done, and the ''pool party'' with BONES BRIGADE in Ibbenburen was a laugh.

If you wanna book the band just email us.
VECTORS STOCKHOLM POSTER
We played at the Eldorado BBQ Punkrock Party in Stockholm, Sweden. The engineer refused to mix 1 of the 15 bands. No prizes for guessing what band that was.
