![]() Clic here to go to SEX PISTOLS IN NORWAY PICS! When Journalist and photographer Tor Marcussen - who had been to both the press conference and the gig in Oslo - wrote a piece on the band for the daily Norweigan paper Aftenposten it was refused. Chief editor Reidar Lunde told him ''We will not mention that sort of artists and music in Aftenposten!'' ![]() Tronheim concert poster kindly supplied by Tim, Oslo, Norway. 2nd Oslo gig photo page! |
Between Kristinehamn 19th and Växjö 23rd in Sweden, the band did two gigs in NORWAY. Wednesday the 20th at the PINGVIN RESTAURANG in OSLO and Thursday the 21st at STUDENTER SAMFUNDET in TRONDHEIM. They did the same set on both nights. On the first day they held a press conference at 7.30 at the Pinvin Restaurang. Appearantly this event was featured in full colour in norweigan men's magazine Vi Menn. Anyone got it? This was also Paul Cook's 21st birthday. While in Oslo the band stayed at the Ambassador Hotel. The gig in Oslo was stopped half-way through (in the beginning of EMI) when someone threw an ashtray in John's head, but after much shouting it was continued. The tape from the show is really funny with this Norweigan punk going 'ANARKI! ANARKI!' over and over again after the incident. There were some minor trouble in Trondheim as well. Christian Naess, Eidsvoll, Norway told me that the band entered the stage in Trondheim wearing chef's hats and coats stolen from the place's kitchen! Both gigs were recorded but not released on any bootleg records. Oslo is slightly faster and more aggressive than Trondheim, but both shows are really good. The Trondheim gig was not filmed as has been claimed in some books. There's been a misunderstanding due to the cover of Virgin's Trondheim CD having stills from the Stockholm July 28 film on it. In Oslo Thor Greni - singer in Norweigan rock band The Undertakers Cirkus - gave the band new Levi's jeans and got Sid to strip outside the hotel. |

| All songs (?) except Pretty Vacant
from the Trondheim gig was available on the 1992 VIRGIN RECORDS' limited edition CD Double Pack version of KISS THIS (CDVX 2702) as the bonus CD.
This was released in Japan too (VJCP-36035.36), where it also included a free t-shirt. The cover pictures were taken from the 16mm film from Stockholm July 28 1977. In the NTAH fanzine John says ''Why use an incomplete recording of the Trondheim concert when there is a complete recording available which could easily have been remastered even if it meant a slight drop in quality''. However the piece also says that the band played three songs not included on the official CD. Apart from Pretty Vacant they also did Satellite and Bodies. Now, Satellite was done in Copenhagen, but the band doing Bodies at this time sounds very strange. I don't think the song even existed at the time. Other sources says that they did the exact same set on both nights, so I have not included the two other songs in the set list for Trondheim. Maybe John confused it with the rumoured Rotterdam Dec 5 1977 recording. Dino Everett, who was involved with the Box Set, says Virgin have nothing like it. More info on this appreciated. The article also states that Sid (along with Nancy, who wasn't even on the tour) performed I Wanna Be Your Dog with the Avengers at Winterland. This is not true at all. The author got it confused with the day before, in L.A., where Sid got up on stage with The Dogs. See my interview with Dogs' guitarist Loren. (Useless anal nerd type trivia: The ending of the Trondheim CD has a car crash taken from a Peter Gabriel LP and a bottle smashed especially for this release - recorded at Virgin's Island Studios). |

E-MAIL me if you've got it. Especially those of you who
saw them in 1977 and/or have any old pictures, news cuttings or other things of interest. |
