![]() The free poster NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS HERE'S THE SEX PISTOLS (Virgin rec, V2086) was officially released in the UK on Friday October 28 1977. A very limited number of the record came as an 11-track LP with a one-sided 'Submission' 7'' (VDJ24) and a poster. This version of the LP came in a sleeve without the song titles on the back. The order of the songs is different on this as well. Side A Holidays In The Sun / Liar / No Feelings / God Save The Queen / Problems Side B Seventeen / Anarchy In The UK / Bodies / Pretty Vacant / New York / E.M.I. Some of these copies came shrink wrapped with a blue sticker on the front, with a short text about the free 7'' and poster plus ''S.P.O.T.S. 1'' on it. Most copies came as the normal 12 track album, although the first 1000 of these came in the 'blank back' sleeve. This version (and most foreign pressings) have this track list: Side A Holidays In The Sun / Bodies / No Feelings / Liar / God Save The Queen / Problems Side B Seventeen / Anarchy In The UK / Submission / Pretty Vacant / New York / E.M.I. It had advance orders of more than 125, 000 and instantly qualified for a Gold Disc. In Virgin's press release there's talk about a version without 'God Save The Queen' on it, that would have been sold in chain stores WH Smith's, Boots and Woolworth, who had banned the song. This never happened. Alternative working titles for the LP were 'God Save Sex Pistols' (a couple of cover test prints were made) and 'Another Load Of Bollocks From The Sex Pistols'. On Saturday November 5 1977 music papers Melody Maker and Record Mirror censored the word 'Bollocks' in the full page ads for the album. The Cassette was released in the UK in two versions, one as the 11 track LP and one as the 12 track LP. Both have cat no TCV 2086. |
