Prior to the gig Steve, Paul and Sid hung out with two fans (Bengt Liljegren and Aris Fioretos, both now writers) in the centre of the town. The local Raggare had promised to
beat the punks up - there was a big motor show outside town and a fight between the two groups
seemed unavoidable - but nothing happened.
This gig, the last one on their Scandinavian tour, was originally scheduled three weeks earlier - July 8, 24.00 to be exact - but was moved to this date after the attack on John in London. The band did the gig in Linköping at the club Orfi (a.ka. Seagull), where the audience were mostly curious disco people with only a handful of punk rockers attending. The club capacity was around 300 but twice as many was let inside. The band went on stage around midnight. The gig was not recorded, photos from the night are very rare and many of the Sex Pistols gig lists doesn't include the date. The band flew back to England on Saturday the 30th. Info supplied by Bengt Liljegren (see Melody Maker July 23 1977) and Kjell Holm. |

I'm always looking for good info on the SEX PISTOLS' gigs in Scandinavia.
E-MAIL me if you've got it. Especially those of you who
saw them in 1977 and/or have any old pictures, news cuttings or other things of interest. |
