Sex Pistols at Club Zebra, Kristinehamn,
Sweden July 19 1977
Appearantly previous club owner Bo Olsson took some photos and did an interview with the band this night too. I'll try to get them. Thanks to Anton O, Kristinehamn for this info.
The photographer Lotta Lundberg told me this about the gig:
''We arrived in town early in the afternoon because we had no idea where Club Zebra was. We finally found the place, it was a rebuilt old resdidence next to a football ground a bit off the centre of the town. We were outside when suddenly the door opened and the band came out. They had just done a soundcheck.
There were some initial confusion - we couldn't believe our eyes - but we talked to them for a while and they did the usual signing. Rotten signed my note as Bognor Regis. It took me a couple of years before I understood what Bognor Regis was... Sadly I don't have the notes anymore.
They went back to their hotel and we waited for the doors to open. It turned out that you had to be 18 to get in, and I was only 17. Panic. F**k, wouldn't I get inside??? I lined up and when I got to the door I showed my ID, the bouncer didn't look at the date and let me in. Phew!
Inside was the smallest hall I've ever seen. There can't have been more than a 100 people there. Not many punks, just people like me and my mates; average music freaks who loved punk. The gig was outstanding. Crowded, hot, close and full throttle. There were no fights before or after the gig. We were one happy gang that went back to Örebro later that summer night. The same gang that saw them in Linköping a week later.''
