Disco 42 Jönköping Sweden Sunday July 17 1977 |
|||
|---|---|---|---|
| In Jönköping the band only played for about 20 min. The gig
was cut short when the local police stopped it because of the numerous bomb threats. There were no bombs at the club, but
this is how some people reacted to the band back in 1977. Swedish media made a lot out of punkrockers wearing swastikas,
raggare caused a lot of problems and the police were expecting violence. Also Jönköping is known for being a very religious town.
The gig was not recorded. They spent the next day travelling to Kristinehamn for a gig at the Club Zebra on the 19th. This is the only picture I've ever seen from the gig at Disco 42. |

Thanks to Johan Jokiniemi, Jönköping for supplying info.
**UPDATE**: Stefan Gustavsson, also from Jönköping, went to the gig and told me: ''When we arrived it was a lot of people outside the club and the police where also there because of the expected violence between punks and raggare. We entered the club and it was crowded. After some time, but before the gig, we have to leave the club because of a bomb threat. The police search for bombs but they did not found any. We went into the club again and after a delay the gig started. The band where quite arrogant to the audience and Sid was spitting on the wall.'' |

| This is the poster for Jönköping. The same one was used for the whole Scandinavian tour, with different date and place hand written on every copy. Thanks to Hervé Labyre, Bergerac, France. | |||

I'm always looking for good info on the SEX PISTOLS' gigs in Scandinavia.
E-MAIL me if you've got it. Especially those of you who
saw them in 1977 and/or have any old pictures, news cuttings or other things of interest. |
