OUTL4W is a band from Lytham St.Annes, UK and they play skate punk. This is their official live DVD and it's got 9 tracks on it, all from a local gig at the Parish Centre, on February 18 2006. The band members are very young, most of them in their early teens, but they have made a name for themselves through battle of band radio contests and appearances on childrens TV.
This was shot with three video cameras and it's ok sound and picture wise. They play pretty well, really well for a band that young, so if you're a fan this may be a welcome release.
The gig itself reminds me of the early 90's Umeå hardcore scene. Sober, young and positive, with parents waiting backstage. The music is very different of course, and there's a lot more girls in the audience on this DVD compared to the old REFUSED shows, but it's got the same clean cut wibe. Even cleaner and nicer, really, as this seem to have no political message whatsoever. The lyrics are about stuff like having to tidy up your room.
I'm no fan of skate punk, but it's good to know that the UK still have bands under the age of 40 with some energy left in them, instead of just another has-beens-that-never-was reunion.
As for punk; you won't see this band getting banned, but you will see them on TV. Sony is already featuring them in an ad campaign by the way.
